Positive Aspects

1. Integrated 5G Connectivity at Mid-Range

Snapdragon 690 delivers sub-6 GHz 5G support via the integrated Snapdragon X51 modem, allowing modern 5G connectivity in affordable mid-range devices. This was among the first times Qualcomm brought 5G to the 600 series.

2. Efficient CPU Configuration

Featuring two high-performance Kryo 560 Gold cores (based on Cortex-A77) and six Kryo 560 Silver (Cortex-A55) efficiency cores, the 8-core CPU offers a balanced performance for everyday tasks and general multitasking on 8 nm process tech.

3. Good Multimedia & Camera Support

With an Adreno 619 GPU and ISP capable of handling up to 192 MP cameras along with support for modern codecs and 4K video capture/playback, Snapdragon 690 caters well to typical media and imaging needs in mid-range phones.

Negative Aspects

1. GPU Limited for Demanding Games

While the Adreno 619 provides decent graphics for casual gaming and daily applications, it is modest compared to higher-end GPUs in more powerful mid-range SoCs, hindering performance in demanding 3D games at high settings.

2. Older 8 nm Process and Lower Memory Bandwidth

Being built on an older 8 nm process with LPDDR4X memory limits overall efficiency and peak performance compared to newer SoCs using 6 nm or 5 nm nodes with LPDDR5, resulting in lower memory throughput and thermal efficiency.

Device information for this processor will be available soon. We are working on collecting data about smartphones and tablets that use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 5G.
