Positive Aspects

1. High Flagship Performance for Its Era

Snapdragon 845 was Qualcomm’s flagship SoC of 2017, built on a 10nm process with four Cortex-A75 based Kryo 385 Gold cores and four Cortex-A55 based Silver cores, delivering excellent CPU performance in multitasking, productivity, and daily tasks.

2. Strong Graphics and Multimedia

The integrated Adreno 630 GPU provided a significant GPU performance boost at launch, enabling smooth high-resolution gaming and 4K multimedia playback.

3. Broad Feature Support

Featuring Qualcomm’s Hexagon 685 DSP for enhanced AI/vision tasks, advanced Spectra 280 ISP for camera workflows, and efficient processing for VR/AR applications, the SD845 was highly versatile for flagship smartphones in its generation.

Negative Aspects

1. No Native 5G Support

Being a 2017 design predating mainstream 5G deployment, Snapdragon 845 only offers LTE through Qualcomm’s X20 modem and does not include 5G support, limiting connectivity lifespan as networks evolve.

2. Efficiency Lower Than Later Nodes

Although a capable 10nm SoC, its process node is less power efficient compared with modern 6nm / 5nm chipsets, leading to higher power consumption under sustained workloads and poorer thermal behavior.

Device information for this processor will be available soon. We are working on collecting data about smartphones and tablets that use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845.
